How to install

Download the APK
Tap "Download APK" above. The file goes to your phone's Downloads folder.

Allow it
Open the file. If the phone asks to allow "install unknown apps", allow it for your browser (or the Files app).

Install
Tap "Install". If Play Protect warns you, choose "Install anyway": it asks this for apps that do not come from Google Play.

Listen
Open MeloMax. When a new version is out, the app tells you and updates itself.
One-time setting for Android Auto
Android Auto only shows music apps from Google Play. To see MeloMax in the car:
- Open the Android Auto settings on your phone (Settings → Connected devices → Android Auto).
- Tap "Version" at the bottom 10 times and confirm developer mode.
- Open "Developer settings" from the ⋮ menu at the top right.
- Turn on "Unknown sources".
- Connect the phone to the car again: MeloMax shows up among the music apps.

Is MeloMax free?
Yes. No subscription or payment, and no account needed.
Why is it not on Google Play?
MeloMax is distributed as an APK straight from this website. Updates arrive inside the app, no store needed.
Is the APK safe?
The app is signed with our own key, and updates are only accepted with the same signature. Download the APK only from melomax.app.
How much data does it use?
A song is about 3-4 MB at normal quality. Settings have a data saver mode and "Wi-Fi only". Songs you played are kept on the phone, so replaying them uses no data.
Which phones does it run on?
Android 7.0 or later. There is no iPhone version yet.
Where are my favourites kept?
Favourites, playlists and history are stored only on your phone. Removing the app removes them too.
